We combine thoughtful garden design with plants suited to the site, creating gardens that feel intentional, natural, and connected to the landscape around them.

The First 6 Gardens
For our first season, PHK Gardens is taking on 6 residential garden projects.
We're starting small so we can give every garden the attention it deserves—from the initial site evaluation and design through planting and installation.
The first 6 projects will help establish the foundation of PHK Gardens and create the portfolio of gardens we'll be building for years to come.
Every one of the first 6 gardens also includes 90 days of Joan, free.
We're looking for homeowners who:

Tell Us About Your Space
Submit a few photos and some basic information about the area you'd like to transform. We'll review the space and determine whether it's a good fit for the Spring 2027 program.

Site Visit
For selected projects, we'll visit the property to evaluate the space, discuss your goals, and look at the growing conditions. We'll talk about what you like, what you don't, and what you envision for the finished garden.

Garden Design
We'll develop a planting plan specifically for your space. The design will consider plant selection, placement, scale, seasonal interest, and the conditions of the site.

Approve the Design
We'll review the proposed garden with you and make any necessary adjustments before moving forward.

Installation
When planting season arrives, we'll bring the design to life. We'll prepare the site, install the plants, and create the finished garden.

Watch It Grow
The garden isn't finished when we leave. It's just beginning. Plants change, fill in, flower, and mature. A well-designed garden becomes more interesting with time.

No. You don't need to know the names of any plants. Tell us what you like, what you don't like, and how you want the space to feel. We'll handle the design and plant selection.
No. Hell strips are where we're starting because they're one of the most overlooked opportunities for residential gardens. PHK Gardens also works with front-yard beds, small gardens, native plantings, pollinator gardens, and garden renovations.
Native plants can be an important part of a garden design, particularly when they're well suited to the site and the goals of the garden. We focus on choosing plants that make sense for the space rather than following a one-size-fits-all plant list.
Yes. PHK Gardens provides both the garden design and installation for selected projects.
Yes. A garden doesn't always need to start from scratch. We can work with existing plants and features when they make sense for the new design.
Every project is different because the size, site conditions, plant selection, preparation, and scope of work vary. After reviewing your space, we'll be able to discuss the appropriate scope and provide project pricing before installation.
Our focus is garden design and installation. We'll provide guidance on caring for your new garden, but ongoing landscape maintenance is not currently part of our service.
Joan is a gardening app being developed alongside PHK Gardens to help gardeners keep track of their plants, garden tasks, care, and progress throughout the growing season.
